Peace and Blessings!

The General Synod for 2016 is just two months away! Though we are very busy finalizing this year’s meeting we are also busy planning on next year’s General Synod!

This is where you get to have your say in where The General Synod of the UACC will meet. Next year’s meeting will be held from June 19 through 22.

Our two options will be:

Chicago, IL- being held at Chicago Theological Seminary on their beautiful campus and near-by hotel.

Our Response to HB2

Some civic laws are designed to protect the people, as in the case of North Carolina’s HB2. Lawmakers declared that HB2 was designed to protect a specific group of people (young girls.) Historically the threat, for which this law was directed, virtually did not appear to exist. At the same time, the law increased oppressive situations for transgendered people who were, in reality, at a much greater risk for their personal well-being. Because of this law, many groups and organizations have chosen not to do business in North Carolina, particularly in Charlotte.

The United American Catholic Church is deeply committed to the well-being of, and ministry to, all people, particularly those who are oppressed or marginalized in our world. In keeping with this focus, we do choose to gather in Charlotte in September for our annual Synod. It is our hope and prayer that our presence might promote opportunities to shed God’s light into this situation and offer spiritual support toward a fair and just resolution.
